Age: 63 Date joined IWM: Sunday, June 30, 2013
- Total Pounds Lost: 50 lbs
Biggest Non-Scale Victory:
I have learned better eating habits. What I thought was healthy eating was not even close to eating the best possible foods which include only “One ingredient”. Also, I had severe heart bur n, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I now have zero heartburn, I am off the cholesterol medication and I am on the lowest dose for high blood pressure.
How was your first week on the program?:
I was on vacation that week so I was able to cope better than if I was working. I have to admit I went through some withdrawal periods that week and the next. I was a pasta girl (not any longer) and my body didn’t like the change at first.
What has been your biggest struggle or fear and how did you get through that (big events, vacations, etc.)?:
After the first two weeks of struggle for me, I didn’t have a problem sticking to the program. I loved the fact that I lost weight so fast and this kept me excited about what I was learning each time I came to talk with my coach and weigh in at IWM. I was very satisfied with the food and seldom hungry. I did not cheat because I had no cravings.
Please share any tips or advice you may have for other clients?:
First and foremost - DON’T CHEAT – If you stay in ketosis you will lose weight fast, get healthy by repairing your metabolism and pancreas, plus you will feel so much better. The more you stick to the program the sooner you will be done. It does not take long at all. I just kept in mind that “in 5 months I will be a new person” and now (5 months later) - I am that new person. Take your vitamins they are essential. Don’t fool yourself into thinking you are eating what you feel is okay when deep down you know it’s not. Before you make a wrong decision, contact your coach for advice.
Listen to your coach – she knows better than you on what works and what doesn’t. You might think that your way is better – NO IT’S NOT – you will just be wasting valuable time & money trying to do it your way.
What do you look forward to as a life change in maintenance?:
I look forward to putting to the test what I have lear ned about proper eating habits. I feel that losing the weight was the easy part. The challenge is maintaining, but I know this is a lifetime program so I can get help anytime I need it for the rest of my life. I’m up to it – I can do this because I don’t ever want to go back to that “old person”. I already gave away all my “big” clothes as an incentive to never look back. I feel good, I look good and I love dressing up and going out now. Life is so much more fun!
What role did you health coach play in your success?:
Oh heavens, April was wonderful! She was with me every step of the way and I feel that I could not have done it without her. I have been on scores of diets through my life and this is the only one I’ve stuck with and accomplished my goals. April set goals for me that I didn’t even know I needed like water retention levels, adding additional muscle and reducing fat mass. I call her my IWM Angel.
